It 's a Miray-cle

Chevrolet is celebrating its centenary with this striking new all-wheel-drive hybrid sports car concept, unveiled at the Seoul Motor Show. Presented by General Motors Korea, the Chevrolet Miray, meaning 'future' in Korean, is an open-top sports ear; Its heavily sculpted carbon-fibre bodywork was inspired by some of Chevy's classic models, including the 1963 Monza SS and the Corvair Super Spyder from the previous year.
General Motors is heavily involved in South Korea, where it is the third-largest manufacturer. It has design, engineering and manufacturing operations in the country, and this two-seat concept is a product of these facilities.
The hybrid system comprises a mid-mounted 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a dual-clutch gearbox powering the rear wheels, while twin 15kW electric motors fed by a 1.6kWh  lithium-ion battery pack power the fronts. The electric motors alone are capable of propelling the Miray, although range and performance figures have not been confirmed.
A real-world trial of 100 two-seat electric 'pod' cars is being planned by General Motors for late 2012. This is intended to move the development of the EN-V urban transport pod, first shown at the Shanghai Expo last year, into a new phase. GM plans to finesse the styling, develop the 'sophisticated' network communication system and engineer an alternative power-pack, the latter to replace the two-wheel Segway 'skateboard' used in the concepts with a more conventional three-wheel or four-wheel setup. It plans to test The cars in a one-square-mile site free of other vehicles, such as the Olympic village.
