Porsche plugs in

Porsche is underlining its commitment to offer an electric sports car in the future with a new research programme. In a bid to combine greater efficiency with even lower fuel consumption and emissions, Porsche is working consistently not only on the ongoing development of hybrid concepts already in production, but also using three research cars with all-electric drive based on the Porsche Boxster. The test process will start in early 2011 in Stuttgart where three electric Boxsters will provide an important preliminary insight to new electric drive components and battery systems for all-electric vehicle drive. This field test is intended to also provide further findings on the infrastructure required for electromobility, user behaviour and the demands made of future products. Michael Macht, the president and chief executive officer of Porsche AG, sees this contribution made by Porsche as absolutely essential. “We will definitely be offering an electric sports car in future. But such a concept only makes sense if it offers performance and a cruising range comparable to that of a sports car today.”

Evoque Is Range Rover’s New Baby

The Evoque’s bold exterior features exciting new interpretations of classic Range Rover design cues, including the signature clamshell bonnet, the floating roof and the solid 'wheel-at-eachcorner' stance. Unlike any previous Range Rover, the Evoque adopts a very dynamic profile with its dramatic rising beltline, a muscular shoulder running the length of the car, and a distinctive taper to the floating roofline. The bold design graphic created by the exaggerated wedge of the window line is emphasised by the black pillars. The stylish body exudes a strong sense of premium quality with its precise, tight shut-lines, striking details like the bonnet vents and side vents, and the jewel-like quality of the slim front and rear lamps with their LED signature lighting. Drivers who take their Range Rover Evoque off-road will be reassured to know that in addition to extremely generous ground clearance, the car has significantly better breakover angle, approach angle and departure angle than other premium SUVs.
