Four-Cylinder EcoBoost Mustang

Those holding out hope for a return of the SVO Mustang are not going to like this post to much as we have learned there will be no four-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost Mustang coming anytime soon.
According to Mustang Chief Engineer Dave Pericak there are no future plans to bring back a four-cylinder in the Mustang.During a recent talk with Fox Car Report at a 2011 Mustang press junket Pericak put those rumors to rest.
"Right now we don’t see us going any lower [horsepower wise] …Right now we don’t plan to go backwards and go down in horsepower. We’re going to stay at at least 305 (hp) and take this thing to the next level,” Pericak told Fox Car Report.
Pericak sees no reason to drop in a EcoBoost engine when the 2011 V-6 Mustang with it's 305 horsepower already leads its class with 19 mpg city and 31 mpg highway fuel economy.   [...]
